Why these two together?

Omega 3+ Advanced and Ateronon Heart+ together support your heart health in a way no single supplement can.

Omega 3 is rich in EPA and DHA fatty acids that contribute to the normal function of the heart*, helping to maintain a healthy blood pressure and healthy levels of triglyceride, a fat found in the blood that is an important indicator of cardiovascular health. The official advice is to eat oily fish every week to get enough EPA and DHA. As many of us don't always do that, a good quality omega 3 supplement can provide important nutritional support.

LactoLycopene™ is our own patented, award-winning blend of lycopene – an antioxidant in tomatoes that promotes cardiovascular health – with whey protein, which makes lycopene more absorbable. In a landmark Cambridge University Hospital clinical study, LactoLycopene™ was shown to improve blood vessel function by 53% in people with cardiovascular disease in 8 weeks, restoring it to levels similar to those seen in healthy volunteers (Gajendragadkar et al., 2014).

*The beneficial effect is obtained with a daily intake of 250mg EPA and DHA.

It’s not just the ingredients – absorption matters too

LactoLycopene™ was developed to solve a problem with lycopene: it's difficult for the body to absorb from raw tomatoes. LactoLycopene™ pairs lycopene from tomato extract with whey protein, producing a three times greater increase in lycopene levels than standard lycopene. Each capsule of Aternonon Heart+ provides the lycopene of over a kilogram of cooked tomatoes, every day, without cooking a thing.

Omega 3+ Advanced takes a different approach. Standard fish oil binds EPA and DHA to triglycerides, which float on your stomach contents – causing the fishy repeats that often put people off it. Krill oil binds them to phospholipids instead. As these are the same type of molecule that your cell membranes are made from, your body recognises them immediately. Blood omega-3 levels rise 1.5 times higher from krill oil than standard fish oil as a result. As it mixes rather than floats, there's no fishy aftertaste, just a gentle vanilla softgel.

Extra nutritional support for your heart

Lycopene and krill oil may be the headline ingredients, but the Healthy Heart Duo also provides essential nutrients supporting your heart, circulation and wider health.

Heart function
Thiamin (vitamin B1), EPA and DHA all contribute to the normal function of the heart*.

Healthy blood
Folate, vitamins B6 and B12 support normal homocysteine metabolism, while folate and B12 contribute to normal red blood cell formation.

Cell protection
Selenium helps protect cells from oxidative stress and supports normal immune function.

Fat metabolism and liver health
Choline contributes to normal fat metabolism and the maintenance of normal liver function.

*The beneficial effect of EPA and DHA is obtained with a daily intake of 250mg EPA and DHA.

Ingredient highlights

LactoLycopene™ - the 'Tomato Pill'

Lycopene is a bright red antioxidant abundant in tomatoes that naturally supports healthy blood vessel function. The difficulty is absorption: from raw tomatoes, barely any will reach your bloodstream. Cooking with olive oil helps, but it stays low and inconsistent. LactoLycopene™ combines natural lycopene from tomato extract with whey protein to make it more bioavailable. Each capsule of Ateronon Heart+ delivers the lycopene equivalent of eating over 1kg of cooked tomatoes, consistently, every day.

In a Cambridge University Hospital study, supplementation with LactoLycopene™ was shown to improve blood vessel function by 53% in people with cardiovascular disease in 8 weeks, restoring it to levels similar to those seen in healthy volunteers (Gajendragadkar et al., PLoS One, 2014).

Created by FutureYou Cambridge, LactoLycopene™ has now been the subject of scientific research for over 20 years, with over £12 million invested in its development. In 2022, it won Ingredient of the Year in the Healthy Ageing category at the NutraIngredients USA Awards.

Krill Oil – Omega 3 the way your body likes it

Antarctic krill are tiny crustaceans at the base of the marine food chain. Because they feed on phytoplankton rather than other fish, krill oil is naturally purer than oil from larger species. Omega 3+ Advanced provides 1,180mg of krill oil per daily serving, delivering EPA and DHA bound to phospholipids – the same molecules your cell membranes are made from – rather than the triglycerides used in standard fish oil. Krill oil delivers a 1.5 times higher increase in blood omega-3 levels than standard fish oil. (Loukil, I et al, Am. Journ. Clin. Nutr., 2026). The krill is sustainably harvested and the oil processed in a GMP-certified facility in Norway.

Thiamin, selenium and the B vitamins

Ateronon Heart+ provides thiamin at 1.5mg (136% NRV), which contributes to the normal function of the heart and to normal energy-yielding metabolism. Selenium at 55mcg (100% NRV) contributes to the protection of cells from oxidative stress, to normal thyroid function and to normal immune function. Folic acid (200mcg), vitamin B6 (1.4mg) and vitamin B12 (2.5mcg) each contribute to normal homocysteine metabolism, and B6 and B12 to normal red blood cell formation.

Choline for extra support

The phospholipids naturally found in krill oil also carry choline – an essential nutrient most people do not get enough of from diet. Choline contributes to normal fat metabolism and liver function, and is a precursor to acetylcholine, a neurotransmitter important for memory and brain function. Each serving provides 82.5mg of choline.

The heart benefits of Ateronon have been shown

For around 25 years I have been conscious of a very, very slight and not frequent heart anomaly under a certain condition, but it has not been enough to warrant medical intervention. A fortnight ago I decided to see if Ateronon Heart would have any effect on this. I am delighted to say that after two weeks of taking Ateronon the problem I have described has been totally eradicated. I have related this just to say that in my case the heart benefits of Ateronon have been shown, and are beyond what I had expected.

FAQs

When will I feel the benefits?

Levels start to build

Both of these work by accumulating. Lycopene is fat-soluble and builds gradually in your tissues with each daily capsule far more efficiently than through diet. Omega 3 is doing the same thing in your cell membranes. Meanwhile the thiamin, selenium and B vitamins begin their daily work. You are unlikely to feel much, and that is exactly what should happen.

Building momentum

Reaching a useful level

A University of Cambridge study showed that LactoLycopene™ raised blood lycopene levels by 60-100% within two months, so this is the window in which levels reach a meaningful point rather than still climbing. Omega 3 follows a similar curve. If your diet was low in oily fish before starting, this is where the gap has properly closed.

When will I feel the benefits?

The long game

Three months in, both supplements are established and providing the support they were designed for. This is a routine that works over years rather than months or weeks, which is why the subscription exists – daily consistency is what matters. Nothing dramatic to report is the outcome we want.
